25th Anniversary Celebration

The PQG held a meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of it's foundation at the Bell House Hotel in Beaconsfield on October.

63 Members attended the dinner on the evening of October 16th at which David Begg spoke about the history and achievements of the group. They also amused themselves with a quiz about Committee members.

The Chairman thanked the Committee members for their dedication and work for the group over the recent period. He then presented John Turner with a certificate of Life Membership in recognition of his contribution to the group from the MCA over a period of time. John becomes the first Life Member of the group.

The speakers at the meeting held on October 17th covered both the history and the issues for the future of the pharmaceutical industry. They included both serious observations and amusing insights into life today;

  • Computer validation, a solution in search of a problem - Bill Hewlett

  • A suppliers view of Pharmaceutical and Industrial Quality Systems: What can WE learn from THEM - Daniel Peek
  • A view from inside the system in Europe related to Quality. - Dr Derek Calam

The members present agreed that the meeting and speakers had highlighted issues for today and thanked the Treasurer of the PQG (Dr Graham Davison for organising the event)
