Cookies

This site uses cookies to store information on your local computer. They serve only to improve your viewing pleasure.

wordpress_[hash]: On login the wordpress_[hash] cookie is used to store your authentication details.

wordpress_logged_in_[hash]: After login, the website sets the wordpress_logged_in_[hash] cookie, which indicates when you’re logged in, and who you are.

wp-settings-{time}-[UID]: The system also sets a few wp-settings-{time}-[UID] cookies. The number on the end is your individual user ID. This is used to customize your view of the site interface.

wp-postpass_[hash]: This cookie is used to hand information back to the system to allow you access to pages such as your profile.

The cookies contain hashed data, so don’t have to worry about someone gleaning your username and password by reading the cookie data. A hash is the result of a specific mathematical formula applied to some input data (in this case your username and password, respectively). It’s quite hard to reverse a hash (bordering on practical infeasibility with today’s computers). This means it is very difficult to take a hash and “unhash” it to find the original input data.

The above cookies are normally deleted when you close your browser.

When adding a comment to the website cookies are stored on your computer. This is purely a convenience, so that you won’t need to re-type all your information again when you want to leave another comment. Three cookies are set for commenters:

  • comment_author
  • comment_author_email
  • comment_author_url

The commenter cookies are set to expire a little under one year from the time they’re set.

Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

The forum system stores your e-mail address. The e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one).

PQG Card refund policy & payment security

Our refunds policy

Under The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000 No. 2334), transposed into UK law as Directive 97/7/EC on the protection of consumers in respect of distance contracts, you have a right to cancel your order for any payments made via this website, for a full refund.

To cancel you can email the Membership Secretary and copy info@pqg.org or write to the address given on the PQG Web Site at http://www.pqg.org/membership/join.php within seven days of payment, quoting your PQG membership number and FuturePay agreement number.

Card payment security

Security is probably one of the most significant concerns for you the member, and ourselves during an online transaction. In reality an online transaction is probably more secure than a card transaction in a shop or conducted over the telephone or by fax, as the information transmitted online is highly encrypted using complicated logarithm combinations.

The WorldPay payment system uses a combination of both established and innovative techniques to ensure the security and integrity of all sensitive data. Furthermore their public web servers are certified by Thawte, a public Certificate Authority, ensuring that both the client and firm can have confidence that nobody can impersonate WorldPay to obtain confidential information.

Transaction Encryption

The transfer of the purchase details from the PQG web site to Worldpay are encapsulated using their own encrypted and digitally-signed protocol. This uses a combination of standard methods such as PGP, RSA and MD5 to ensure that the information passed is secure and tamper-proof.

Security for the Shopper

Any communication between the client and WorldPay is also encrypted to the maximum strength supported by the client’s browser using TLS or 128 BitSSL. Clients are also protected from fraudulent use of their card in a card not present environment, by their card issuers. The card issuers provide the right for the cardholder to dispute a transaction if the card was used fraudulently.

Data Storage

Data storage on WorldPay systems, and the communication between WorldPay and the worldwide banking networks, is regularly audited by the banking authorities to ensure a secure transaction environment. WorldPay also ensure that they stay up-to-date with the latest versions of any third-party code they use, and continually review their own proprietary code.
